• NATIONAL STARS

  Congratulations and thank you to the orienteering team and their parents who made the long journey to Nottingham University for the Yvette Baker trophy national final.  Amy, Ben, Jamie, Lucy, Tom L, Tom M, Oliver and Zac represented Essex Stragglers in this premier club competition for juniors.  It is wonderful to see our pupils forging strong links between school and club.  The children showed great commitment as they competed in yet another national event.  Our very young orienteers stepped up to the challenge of running a very tricky ‘yellow’ course within the university site.  The Essex Stragglers team who also included many former St. Andrew’s pupils - Chloe Cracknell, Beth Lucas, Daisy and Josh Partridge, Hannah Peters, Callum and Tom Turner – achieved a very commendable 9th place.  Congratulations to all who took part and a special well done to Oliver and Tom M on their fast times which contributed valuable points to the team total.  Thank you to our eight intrepid orienteers for being great ambassadors for St. Andrew’s.

  

• Essex Games Swimming Gala

  At the Essex Games in Basildon on 30th June, St Andrew's represented the North West Essex region, having reached the final in outstanding style.

  Everyone gave 110% and swam superbly against some very talented competitors. The children competed in individual swims as well as freestyle and medley relays. Achieving a well deserved 7th place overall.

  All the children behaved in an impeccable manner and showed great sportsmanship and team spirit throughout the competition. Well done to you all!

• ESSEX SUMMER GAMES SILVER MEDALS

  We are the Quadkids – Rihanna, Jamie, Daisy, Jacob, Katie, Seb, Angel, Finley. We have been training after school on Fridays with Mrs Hartley and Lottie. On Tuesday we took part in the Essex Summer School Games.  It felt like the Olympics!   

   

  There was one team from each district of Essex.  We were the smallest primary school there. We competed in a real athletics stadium at Basildon Sporting Village.

   

  Our event was the quadrathlon so we are known as the Quadkids. We ran 400m, threw the vortex, jumped into a sand pit, and sprinted 50m.

   

  We recorded lots of personal best scores; Daisy got a personal best in every event. Our times and distances earned us points which were all added together. We came 2^nd with a total of 1549 points, a fantastic result as the winning school had nearly 3 times as many pupils as St. Andrew’s.  

   

  Katie scored 207 points which was the highest individual girls total. 

   

  We are very proud to announce that Katie is the Quadkids county champion and WE HAVE ALL WON ESSEX SILVER MEDALS.
