NATIONAL ORIENTEERING MEDALS ONCE AGAIN!
Many congratulations to St. Andrew’s orienteering team who won awards at the British Score Course Championships once again, maintaining their record of excellent results at national competitions. Over the past few years our teams have brought home medals on eight occasions. Arrow Valley Park in the West Midlands was this year’s venue and it proved to be a very challenging location.
Both boys and girls teams were placed third in the Primary Schools category. Thomas Martin produced a brilliant run to gain the individual silver medal in the Year 5 boys’ event. Zac Poter was not far behind in 4th spot. In her first national competition Amy Skeet had a great run and located 12 checkpoints, finishing just outside the individual medals also in 4th spot.
In the boys’ team event the bronze medal winners were Thomas Martin, Zac Poter, Harrison Dixey and Oliver Prince who accumulated 490 points, just 10 points short of the winning score. The girls missed injured Lucy Walker and, with only 3 runners instead of 4, team-mates Amy Skeet, Hannah Wallace and Evie Amos ran incredibly well to collect the team bronze medals.
Well done also to Thomas Leader, William Press, Ben Partridge, Oliver Pringle, Max Davies, Joel Hull and Liam Polley who showed great team spirit and tackled the course with energy and determination. Thank you very much
