Introduction to the Governors

Mike Gee ~ Foundation DBE Governor (Chair) Mike Gee was appointed as Chair of Governors in September 2014. He has over 25 years’ experience in education as a teacher and deputy headteacher and now works for an academy trust leading on school self-evaluation and supports schools in their preparations for Ofsted inspection. Mike originates from Yorkshire and has lived in the Halstead area for almost 30 years. His background in education will provide excellent support for the work of the school. Mike is married and has a primary age daughter. Mike is also responsible for literacy and numeracy.

David George ~ Authority Governor (Vice-Chair) David has been the local authority appointed Governor at St Andrew’s since 2010; he is currently our finance Governor. He has over 20 years experience as a management accountant within the Civil Service. Both of David’s boys attended the school.

Bridgette Gough ~ Headteacher Bridgette has been the Headteacher at St. Andrews since September 2013. Before that she was the Headteacher of Brooklands Primary School in Brantham for eight years. In that time the school has had two Ofsted reports, the most recent producing an Outstanding judgment. She is a qualified Local Leader of Education and, on occasion, has been deployed by Suffolk County Council to support other schools. Bridgette is a qualified Ofsted Inspector. She has taught in three local authorities and has been teaching for over twenty years, she has taught across the Primary Years but specialised in the infant years and most recently the Foundation Stage. She is married with 4 children ranging in age from 18 to 4. Two of her children are currently pupils at St. Andrews.

Georgina Eade – Staff Governor Georgina's degree is in language studies and after several years working in children's international publishing, Georgina undertook a primary teacher training course before joining St. Andrews in 2010. She has taught in both key stages and is subject coordinator for science. Georgina is also in the process of obtaining her Masters of Education.

Justin Pringle ~ Parent Governor Justin is 44 and he is married to Vikki. He has two children; Oliver and Emilie. He runs his own business, Prototype Projects, employing 13 people in Royston; making prototypes for companies to test their new products designs, before they go to market. The company utilises 3D Printing in its many formats as part of our processes as well as more traditional forms of manufacturing like CNC machining. It is a challenging and exciting market. Justin is pragmatic in his approach to his business and to life. He likes to try things for real rather than read about them. Having a young family and running a business is trying at times, mainly in balancing the pressures of time. Vikki also works with Justin, she does the book keeping and this partnership works really well as she is fully aware of the responsibilities Justin has as Managing Director, she really is his rock. Justin treasures the holidays he has with his family, be it going for a weekend away in his motorhome or the annual pilgrimage to the slopes in the winter (his favourite) where he can be set loose on the mountain on his snowboard. He thought long and hard about becoming a Governor for St Andrews. He was not sure if he was right for the role, but after discussing it with Vikki and his mother (who has been a Governor herself at Holy Trinity), he decided to put his name forward. He hopes he can be of help to the school but he also believes the school can help him develop new skills which he utilises in his day job.

Katie Chambers ~ Parent Governor Katie is keen to support the continued improvement of St Andrew’s and to help as a governor to ensure the best possible primary education for the children who attend St Andrew’s. Katie lives nearby and has a daughter in the Juniors and a son who has recently started at St Andrew’s .
